Museum Practice and Heritage Management, BI™

This degree offers students relevant training for careers in all types of museums: natural history museums, historic house museums, living history museums, museums of industry, and museums of archaeology and anthropology. Students with this degree will be well prepared and trained to pursue careers in federal or state agencies that manage cultural properties, museums, and archaeology or architectural resources, the private sector of public archaeology, and anthropology museum management.

General Requirements:

The Bachelor of Innovation (BI) in Museum Practice and Heritage Management requires a minimum of 36 credit hours for the major, 21 of which must be upper-division (3000+ level). All courses for the major must be completed with a grade of C or better.

Major Course Requirements


Methods Core Course - 3 credits


Complete one of the following:

Law and Management - 3 credits


Complete one of the following:

Capstone Internship - 3 credits


All Students will take an internship and complete an internship portfolio and final paper as the Capstone requirement for the degree. These will occur on an approved job site with faculty oversight and guidance using a contract outlining student learning objectives.

Complete one of the following:

Cross-Discipline Core (15 credit hours)
