The Mission of Academic Advising is “partnering with students to successfully navigate college.” Advisors are available to help students:
- Explore and navigate their educational goals and degree requirements
- Connect them to campus resources to foster success
- Understand UCCS, its programs, academic requirements and policies
- Develop strategies for success in college
Current students should schedule regular appointments with their advisor and check in each semester to make the most of their education and progress towards their degree. Student can connect with their advisor through appointments, drop in advising, remote advising and email. Please visit the Academic Advising website for more information and to connect with an advisor.
Degree audits are available to inform students of their academic progress, requirements met, and requirements remaining for both their departmental major and their college. Students should review their degree audit regularly and refer to it when registering for courses every semester. Students should be familiar with their degree audit when seeking academic advising. Students can access their degree audit through the MyUCCS portal.

Orientation programs are held preceding each term to acquaint new students with UCCS academic programs, out-of-class activities, and campus services. Academic advising, registration for classes, and an introduction to campus life constitute the main orientation activities. Newly admitted undergraduate students are required to attend an orientation session before being permitted to register for classes. For more information, please visit the Orientation website.
Math Placement Testing Information
Placing into the right level of math is important for many majors and academic paths and UCCS uses ACT and SAT scores, prior college math courses, or a math placement test to determine math placement. Students who do not have ACT/SAT scores, prior college credit, or wish to challenge their placement, will need to take the Accuplacer. For questions, please visit: https://math.uccs.edu/course-resources-detail/math-placement-test or email email@example.com.
