Health Promotion, MSc

The Master of Sciences (MSc) in Health Promotion degree program equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to apply the principles of health promotion in a variety of community, research, clinical, business, and school settings. Graduates of this program are prepared to take leadership roles in designing, implementing, and evaluating health promotion programs in various public and private agencies at organizational, local, state, and national levels.

Upon completion of the program, graduates are prepared to work in a variety of community and inter-professional settings including:

  • School/Campus Health and Wellness
  • Corporate and Worksite Wellness
  • Community and Public Health organizations
  • Military and Veteran organizations
  • Health Coaching
  • Hospital and Clinical entities

Accelerated Master’s Pathway (AMP)

The department of Health and Wellness has developed a unique opportunity for highly qualified undergraduate students to participate in the Accelerated Master’s Pathway (AMP) to earn the MSc in Health Promotion. Students who are admitted to the AMP track will complete up to 12 hours of 5000-level HSCI courses while completing their bachelor’s degree that will double count toward both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees, if admitted to the MSc. Contact the Program Director or an Academic Advisor to submit an Intent Application for the AMP and determine how the courses will apply to the bachelor’s degree.

Health Science Research Requirements (6-9 credit hours)


Complete LEAD 5700 and one of the remaining options.

Health Promotion Suggested Electives (3-6 credit hours)


Graduate students must complete a minimum of 24 hours of graduate-level (5000+) coursework. The number of 3000- and 4000-level credit hours that can apply to the Master’s degree is limited, and will vary depending on the choice of Research option. Check with a faculty advisor for elective course recommendations.

Accelerated Master’s Pathway (AMP) Courses


The courses below may be taken as an undergraduate student and double counted toward both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees, if accepted to the AMP and the MSc.
