The Electrical Engineering degree program educates students through a program of course work and hands-on experience to prepare them for impactful careers throughout industry. The curriculum grounds the students in the fundamentals of electrical engineering and then specializes along several lines including: semiconductor devices, power systems, controls, communications and signal processing. Electrical Engineering graduates are in great demand due largely to their versatility. Career opportunities are plentiful and span energy, communications, semiconductor design and manufacture, and much more.
General Information
The Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical Engineering requires the following:
- A minimum of 128 hours must be completed with a cumulative CU GPA of 2.0.
- A grade of “C” or better in ECE 1411 , , ECE 2411 and ECE 2610 .
- Completion of an Exit Interview with the ECE Department Chair during the final semester of course work.

Learning Outcomes
The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering prepares undergraduate students to:

Electrical Engineering Electives (22 credit hours)
ECE Electives - Lectures
Complete any four of the following 3-credit-hour Lecture electives for a total of 12 credit hours. Students must complete all course prerequisites. ECE Electives - Labs
Complete any two of the following 1-credit-hour specialty Lab electives for a total of 2 credit hours. Students must complete all course prerequisites. ECE Electives - Additional
Complete an additional 8 hours of upper-division (3000+ level) ECE courses. Students must complete all course prerequisites. - NOTE: Up to 6 credit hours in BIOL, CHEM, CS, MAE, MATH and PES numbered 3000-level or higher may be accepted with a petition completed prior to taking the course (except MATH 3010, 3020, and 3810).
