Biochemistry Minor

A student may complete a minor in biochemistry by finishing the following course work with grades of “C” or better for a total of 27 credit hours of CHEM course work, including 17 credit hours of upper-division CHEM course work. (A student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry may not obtain a minor in biochemistry.)

Note: Students should familiarize themselves with the prerequisite requirements for these courses.

General Chemistry (10 credit hours)

Organic Chemistry (8 credit hours)

Biochemistry Electives (9 credit hours)

Complete three of the following courses.

Note: Students may take either CHEM 4211 or CHEM 4221 & 4231, but cannot receive credit for both.

CHEM 4211 - Biochemistry (If not taking CHEM 4221/4231)
CHEM 4221 - Biochemistry I (If not taking CHEM 4211)
CHEM 4222 - Biochemistry Laboratory
CHEM 4231 - Biochemistry II (If not taking CHEM 4211)
CHEM 4232 - Advanced Techniques in Biochemistry
CHEM 4261 - Advanced Biochemistry
CHEM 4502 - Bioanalytical Techniques
CHEM 4701 - Biophysical Chemistry
CHEM 4721 - Biochemistry of Drugs
CHEM 4731 - Bioinformatics
CHEM 4741 - Protein Structure & Dynamics
CHEM 4751 - Biochemistry of Human Health and Development
