Anthropology is the study of humankind throughout space and time, integrating the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences to explore human culture, language, biology, and our past. The Department of Anthropology serves our students and community by promoting and advancing a nuanced understanding of human origins, history, and diversity. Integrating creative and robust research with outreach to students and the community through teaching and service, we provide our students with rich opportunities to learn and collaborate both in and out of the classroom.
General Information
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Anthropology requires the following:
- A minimum of 36 credit hours of ANTH course work. At least 24 of those hours must be upper division (courses numbered 3000 or higher).
- A grade of C or better in courses applied to the major.
- A minimum 2.0 GPA must be maintained in all ANTH course work.
- No more than 60 credit hours of ANTH course work may apply to the bachelor’s degree.

Learning Outcomes
- Critically assess arguments in Anthropology
- Demonstrate understanding of theoretical positions influencing anthropological thinking in at least two of the four sub-disciplines
- Evaluate research strategies and construct arguments in at least one of the four sub-disciplines
- Compare and contrast theoretical and methodological foundations for at least two of the four sub-disciplines
- Define and explain core concepts in at least three of the four sub-disciplines
Departmental Honors
