The Department of Mathematics offers a curriculum leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. This degree is well-suited for students aiming toward a variety of mathematical careers in industry or secondary education, or planning for graduate education.

*General Requirements*

- Completion of at least 47 credit hours in Mathematics
- 31 credit hours of Core Mathematics courses
- 46 credit hours for Teaching option
- All required mathematics courses must be completed with a grade of C or better
- A CU minimum GPA of 2.0
- An Exit Interview with the Mathematics department is required prior to graduation.
- All Mathematics majors are required to meet with a faculty advisor in the Mathematics department during their first year as Mathematics majors.

### Departmental Honors

The UCCS Mathematics Department offers a special track which leads to departmental honors upon graduation, to qualified students pursuing a BS in Mathematics. Admission to the honors track is by application only; the application form is available at http://www.uccs.edu/Documents/math/honorsapp.pdf. A letter of recommendation from a faculty in the Mathematics Department is required.

#### Honors Requirements

- Maintain an overall GPA of at least 3.0, and a GPA of at least 3.5 in mathematics courses.
- Complete at least five 3-credit-hour mathematics courses numbered higher than 4000, with a GPA of least 3.3 in these courses.
- Complete an undergraduate research project under the supervision of a mathematics faculty advisor. A written report based on the project must be submitted for approval to the Undergraduate Committee of the Mathematics Department.
- Present the results of the above research project at a conference or a seminar.
