Sociology and Criminal Justice, Dual BA

The dual degree program in Sociology and Criminal Justice is designed to make it easier for students to complete these two majors (in the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences and School of Public Affairs, respectively).

General Requirements

  • 25 credit hours, 18 of which must be upper-division (3000+ level) in Criminal Justice.
  • 34 credit hours, 18 of which must be upper-division (3000+ level) in Sociology.
  • All CJ and courses must be completed with grades of C or better.
  • Standard LAS/SPA college general education and Compass Curriculum courses are required.

Course Requirements


Summit Experience


Complete either the honors or standard-track capstone requirement.

Honors Track

Students completing the honors track will receive departmental honors upon successful completion and graduation.

Standard Track

Complete one SOC course with a Compass Curriculum Summit flag. Courses on the Substantive list that have a Summit flag may double count. Options may include the following courses. Additional options may be available in any given semester. Contact the sociology department chair, Dr./Professor Michele Companion, at mcompani@uccs.edu, for more information.

 

 

Elective Courses


Complete 6 credit hours of SOC and CJ courses to meet total and upper-division credit hours. At least 3 credit hours must be from SOC.

Sociology Field Test


Complete the Sociology Field Test.
