A Bachelor of Arts in Economics prepares students for a wide range of employment opportunities in both the public and private sector, and for graduate studies in law and business. Interested students are encouraged to contact the department advisor or the department chair. Information is available on the department website at http://www.uccs.edu/~economics/.
Learning Outcomes
- Students can demonstrate that they know economic terms and theory.
- Students are able to find and use economic data, and interpret analysis based on data.
- Students are able to use economic theories for applications.
- Students are able to articulate economic issues from the past and present.
- Students are able to explain economic policy options and their merits and demerits.
General Requirements
- A minimum of 36 credit hours of economics courses, of which at least 18 are upper division (3000-level or higher)
- All courses completed with a grade of C or better
Departmental Honors
Students who wish to graduate with department honors must complete the following courses in addition to the given degree requirements.

With these three additional courses completed, department honors will be determined by major GPA at the following thresholds:
- Distinction: 3.2
- High Distinction: 3.5
- Highest Distinction: 3.8
