The Department of Leadership, Research, and Foundations within the UCCS College of Education provides opportunities for individuals to enhance their leadership skills in order to make positive contributions to P-12 schools, colleges and universities, non-profit organizations, local municipalties, and state and federal governmental and military agencies. Through a unique combination of undergraduate and graduate programs, students are empowered to become active leaders and difference makers through authentic faculty interactions, real-world applications, and intensive learning processes with the opportunity to grow and learn among the brightest minds in the Rocky Mountain region.

WESTERN REGIONAL GRADUATE PROGRAM

Western Interstate Commission for High Education (WICHE)
The Department of Leadership, Research, and Foundations at UCCS is recognized by WICHE through their Western Regional Graduate Program (WRGP). This program allows anyone from the 15 states in the Western region of the USA to receive special tuition rates. To learn more about the program, please visit the WICHE website.

PRAXIS EXAM INFORMATION

Teaching and Leading in Colorado
The Praxis® tests help Colorado educators demonstrate their knowledge of content, pedagogy, and instructional skills for the classroom. These tests are important components of Colorado’s licensure and certification process and include:

  • Praxis® Subject Assessments - tests that measure general and subject-specific content knowledge that you need for beginning teaching

STUDYING FOR YOUR EXAM

There are several resources available to UCCS student studying for Praxis exams:

Excel Centers: one-on-one and group tutoring

Mometrix: study guides and practice tests via the Kraemer Family Library (requires UCCS credentials)

ETS Praxis: study guides and practice tests

240 Tutoring: learning modules and practice tests; School Counseling, Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education students may access this platform for free by reaching out to their faculty advisor, program coordinator, or Cindy Wenzel at cwenzel@uccs.edu
