ENGL 3340 - American Sentimentality Through the Literatures of Abolition3 Credits (Minimum) 3 Credits (Maximum)
May include the literatures of revolution, the sentimental novel and/or poetics, early American women’s writings, Transcendentalism, early American gothic, literatures of Native American removal and resistance, the slave narrative, and the literatures of abolition. May be repeated for credit with departmental permission. This course fulfills the English department’s historical breadth requirement in American literature before 1900. Prer., ENGL 1310, ENGL 2000, and ENGL 2010 for English majors; ENGL 1310 and ENGL 1500 for non-majors.
