HIST 3300 - Colonialism and Power3 Credits (Minimum) 3 Credits (Maximum)
“Colonialism and Power” examines case studies to deconstruct forms of rationalization for exploitation/expansion and discusses effects in the framing of history. Also focuses on colonized analyzing layered impacts in social structures, identities, economies, value systems, politics, racial/gender dynamics. Further, emphasis on agency of colonized - particularly in terms of resistance. Approved for LAS Global Awareness requirement. Approved for Compass Curriculum: Inclusiveness-Diversity & Power Dynamics (Global). Prer., Sophomore standing or permission of instructor.
