ENGL 3220 - Special Topics: Gender, Writing, and the Environment3 Credits (Minimum) 3 Credits (Maximum)
This course explores representations of gender- as well as gender’s intersections with sexuality, race, and class- in writing that addresses environmental themes. The course considers questions about the role of writing in this moment of environmental crisis as well as the intersection of gender, sexuality, race, and class with environmental issues. Possible genres to be of focus are speculative fiction, creative nonfiction, memoir, poetry, short stories, historical fiction, and digital essays. Approved for Compass Curriculum: Inclusiveness-Diversity & Power Dynamics (Local); Sustainability. Approved for LAS Cultural Diversity and Humanities area requirements.
