ANTH 4420 - Museums and Meaning3 Credits (Minimum) 3 Credits (Maximum)
Students will critically evaluate the ways in which anthropology museums make meaning through practice. We scrutinize how museums can (mis)represent culture. We will focus specifically on issues of voice, narrative building, representation, authority, decolonization, and sensitivity. Approved for Compass Curriculum: Inclusiveness-Diversity & Power Dynamics (Local); Writing Intensive. Approved for LAS Cultural Diversity requirement. Prer., ANTH 1040 or MSGP 2000.
