Study of the origin, development, and contemporary nature of the black community. Encourages an understanding of black culture and values, and the consequences of prejudice and discrimination. Approved for Compass Curriculum: Inclusiveness-Diversity & Power Dynamics (Local). Prer., WEST 1010 (formerly WEST 2010), or SOC 1110, or SOC 2200. Meets with SOC 3240.
