CS 4500 - Operating Systems I3 Credits (Minimum) 3 Credits (Maximum)
Introduces concepts, terminology, and algorithms of operating systems. Describes semaphores, processes, virtual mappings, interrupts, resource allocation and management, protection, synchronization, scheduling, queuing and communication as applied to operating system design and implementation. Prer., CS 2060 or ECE 1021 with a grade of “C” or better; CS 2080 with a grade of “C” or better; CS 4200 or CS 5200 or ECE 4480 with a grade of “C” or better. College of Engineering students only.
