CHEM 2201 - Introduction to Biochemical Principles3 Credits (Minimum) 3 Credits (Maximum)
This introductory class for biochemistry majors will apply foundational chemistry knowledge to develop a chemical understanding of biomolecules. Specifically, this course will cover the chemical interactions that drive protein folding, the role of pH in biochemistry, thermodynamics and kinetics of enzyme-catalyzed reactions, and enzyme mechanisms. We will also discuss planning your biochemistry degree and preparing for a career in biochemistry or other allied fields. Prer., CHEM 3101 or CHEM 3201 with a grade of “C” or better.
