SOWK 6112 - Specialized Social Work Practicum Seminar II

3 Credits (Minimum) 3 Credits (Maximum)

Second course of the two-course specialized practicum placement sequence. The course requires completion of a minimum of 250 practicum hours at an approved social service agency and classroom-based practicum integration sessions. Students are provided the context to put their social work knowledge, values, and skills to use in an advanced social work practice setting. The experience prepares students for work as trauma informed social workers, helps them learn to apply critical thinking skills, and increases their range of social work skills and techniques. The specialized practicum experience provides opportunities for complex application of social work theories, models, values, and ethics in trauma informed social work practice. The course is taken concurrently with the Trauma Informed Seminar (SOWK 6113) in the final semester of the MSW program. Prer., SOWK 6111. Coreq., SOWK 6113.
