SOWK 5003 - Research Methods: Skills for Research-Informed Practitioners

3 Credits (Minimum) 3 Credits (Maximum)

This course introduces the concepts and principles of research-informed practice and practice-informed research and examines the research methods used to answer questions and test hypotheses in social work practice settings. Methods covered include identifying and reviewing scholarly literature; formulating research questions and hypotheses; selecting the appropriate design, data collection, sampling strategies; and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data. The emphasis will be placed on employing ethical, culturally-informed, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive approaches in the conduct of research, knowledge-building, and practical implementation. Prer., Graduate Social Work students only.
