Teaching Sociology Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Teaching Sociology will be offered to graduate students enrolled in the Masters Program in Sociology and others who hold a BA in sociology or a closely-related field, interested in practical training in the process of teaching sociology at the university level.
Dr. Heather Albanesi is the coordinator of the Graduate Certificate in Teaching Sociology.
General Requirements
- Minimum requirement for completion: four courses, for a total of twelve credits.
- A minimum grade of 3.3 is required for each course applied toward the certificate.
- To begin the certificate program, students are required to submit the “Teaching Sociology Certificate Letter of Intent”.
- To complete the certificate program, students are required to submit the “Teaching Sociology Certificate Application”, a transcript and a five-page, typewritten self-statement. This should include the student’s teaching philosophy and reflections related to teaching as a result of program participation.
The certificate will be mailed to recipients upon completions of a certificate audit.
