Pre-Medical Lab Science

IMPORTANT: UCCS does not have a medical lab science certificate program. Pre-Med Lab Science Prep is not a major or minor but a listing of requisite courses and recommendations needed to be eligible for admission into CCMLS in Denver, CO. Other med lab science programs may have different requirements, so students should check admissions requirements for all schools to which they plan on applying.

Pre-Med Lab Science preparation offered at UCCS prepares students for candidacy into professional programs offered at other facilities. A college program leading to a bachelor’s degree is considered by the faculty and the Colorado Center for Medical Laboratory Science (CCMLS), a program of Metropolitan State University of Denver, to offer the best preparation for a student interested in Med Lab Science. Students in the pre-med lab science program are advised to choose a major and should plan to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from UCCS.

Interested individuals should download the application instructions and required forms from the CCMLS website. A completed application folder consists of the application for admission, official college transcripts, three applicant evaluation forms, a verification of degree status form, narrative statement, résumé and the processing fee. Interviews for applicants meeting the CCMLS minimum application requirements are scheduled only after the admission folder is complete.

Applications for admission are screened as they are received by the CCMLS Office of Admissions and Records. Screening for summer admission begins approximately 1 year prior to the June - summer semester - start date and continues until all positions are filled. Although applications are accepted year-round, it is advantageous to submit application materials one year prior to the June start date. Once all positions for a designated start date are filled, admission eligible applications are kept in active status in the event additional positions become available.

NOTE: Completion of requisite coursework does not guarantee acceptance into any professional degree.
