Pre-Medicine

Return to: College of Letters, Arts & Sciences
IMPORTANT: UCCS does not have a medicine program. Pre-Medicine Prep is not a major or minor but a listing of requisite courses and recommendations needed to be eligible for admission to the CU Medical School program at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, CO (UCDAMC). Other medical schools may have different requirements, so students should check admissions requirements for all schools to which they plan on applying.
Pre-Medicine preparation offered at UCCS prepares students for candidacy into professional programs offered at other facilities. A college program leading to a bachelor’s degree is considered by the faculty and the CU School of Medicine’s Committee on Admissions to offer the best preparation for a student interested in medicine. Students in the pre-medicine program are advised to choose a major and should plan to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from UCCS.
NOTE: Completion of requisite coursework does not guarantee acceptance into any professional degree.
For more information on the pre-professional program, see http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/medicalschool/education/Admissions/apply/Pages/Index.aspx or contact Academic Advising at (719) 255-3260 or advising@uccs.edu.

Note:
Many courses have prerequisites that fall outside of this list; be sure to check the catalog for course details. All requisite coursework should be completed with a grade of “C” or better. All requisite coursework must be completed by time of matriculation.
NOTE: Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) credit is accepted only if transcript reflects the exact credit earned. Students who have AP or IB credits in basic sciences are encouraged to take upper-division level courses in those areas.
