CJ 2052 - Introduction to Cyber Crime3 Credits (Minimum) 3 Credits (Maximum)
Computers play an ever-increasing role in criminal activity. Computers may be targets of crime, tools of crime, or may provide evidence of crime. This course provides an overview of the different types and extent of cyber crime as well as the law enforcement practices and procedures in place to address them. Specific cyber crimes covered include hacking, cyberstalking, sex crimes, and traditional crimes committed via computer technology. The course will also cover constitutional protections, differences between cyber crime and crime in the physical world, and challenges inherent in detecting and prosecuting cyber criminals.
