2020-2021 Catalog [ARCHIVED CATALOG]

From the Chancellor

Welcome to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, a proud member of the four-campus University of Colorado system, one of the most respected public university systems in the nation.

The Colorado Springs campus of the university serves more than 12,500 students on a beautiful 500-acre campus overlooking the 14,000-foot Pikes Peak mountain in Colorado Springs, as well as more than 2,000 students from across the globe who access course offerings online.

Students have the opportunity to pursue degrees from six colleges and schools: the College of Business, the College of Education, the College of Engineering and Applied Science, the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, the School of Public Affairs, and the Helen and Arthur E. Johnson Beth-El College of Nursing and Health Sciences. All colleges and schools are supported by the Graduate School and the Kraemer Family Library.

Whether in person, online, or in a blended classroom environment, UCCS is focused on student success. We offer undergraduate programs that provide critical thinking and problem-solving skills and that meet the needs of our region and beyond. Our selective, high-quality graduate programs focus on refining specific skills and the discovery of new knowledge through scholarly research.

UCCS students engage with faculty who are leaders. All tenured and tenure-track faculty have terminal degrees in their fields, usually the PhD, while instructors bring to the classroom a unique blend of academic and professional experiences. Outside of the classroom, UCCS students have the opportunity to meet new people with similar interests through more than 100 registered student clubs and organizations. Students can also gain experience through a variety of service learning projects, internships, and study abroad opportunities. Through the collective efforts of faculty and staff, we aim to help students succeed through the building of meaningful, lasting relationships with faculty and fellow students, as well as our community partners.

As southern Colorado’s only research university, we are actively involved in creating a vibrant future for individuals and communities alike. We are proud to help individuals take their rightful place in the communities of the future including roles as teachers who will guide children, business leaders who will propel the economy, engineers who will unleash new ideas, first responders who will keep us safe, and health professionals who care.

We are proud to be southern Colorado’s leading university and to welcome you to our community of scholars.

Respectfully,

Venkat Reddy, Chancellor
