Mathematics Academic Policies

Prerequisite Policy

Prerequisites for all 1000-level mathematics courses are directly enforced through the registration and student records systems. In lieu of the prerequisite course, a student may pass the appropriate Math Placement Test for the following courses: MATH 1040, 1050, 1110, 1120, and 1350. For pedagogical and advising purposes, students who take the Math Placement Test are strongly encouraged to do so well before the start of the semester. The Math Placement Test is taken online. See the website for details. For questions about student records, please contact the Office of Student Success.

Calculator Policy

Calculator usage on exams is limited to a basic scientific calculator with a minimal number of storage registers and no graphing capability.
